Investing in Women = Investing in Growth
The Junaid Family Foundation is a proud returning sponsor of the 15th International Women Leaders’ Summit (IWLS). Hosted by New World Concepts in Karachi, Pakistan, this year’s conference theme was “When women participate, economies accelerate. Invest in Women – Invest in Growth!” which resonates deeply with JFF’S mission.
Our Pakistan Program Officer, Amna Mahnoor Cheema, represented JFF on the ground, engaging with diplomatic representatives, non-profit agencies, private-sector leaders, and national advocates for gender equity. “Seeing so many leaders united around women’s empowerment reinforced why this work matters and reminded us that real change happens when we invest in women at every level,” said Amna reflecting on the event.
This year’s IWLS boasted an incredible lineup of speakers. Barrister Shahida Jamil, former Federal Minister of Law and Justice, addressed the conference as a trailblazer of women in positions of power. Also presenting was Pernille Ironside, Pakistan’s new Country Representative of UNICEF. In her role, Pernille helps bridge the global world to local impact for vulnerable populations and advocates for children’s rights in the country. These women, along with many other like-minded people, helped inspire and captivate the room by deepening attendees’ knowledge and awareness of the economic return on health.
The summit confirmed that JFF is well-aligned with the current global agenda on women’s empowerment and economic development. As we move forward, we are continuing to invest in women’s health and equity and advocating for others to do the same. Thank you to New World Concepts for continuing to create this vital platform, and to all the leaders, advocates, and organizations driving this agenda forward.
