JFF Expands Maternal Health Support Across Cleveland with Three New Grantee Partnerships
The Junaid Family Foundation (JFF) is pleased to announce the selection of three Cleveland-area organizations as grantees to expand maternal health programming: Zelie’s Home, Pregnant with Possibilities Resource Center, and Partnership for Good Health. The awards reflect JFF’s continued commitment to strengthening maternal and infant health outcomes for women and families facing the greatest barriers to care and vitality around the world.
Highlights of our three grantees:
- Founded in 2009 to provide safe, stable housing and wraparound support for homeless, pregnant, and parenting women for up to one year after childbirth
- Two residential homes in Garfield Heights and Lakewood
- 87% of mothers achieve some measure of self-sufficiency after their time at Zelie’s Home
- JFF’s grant will support prenatal and postpartum care, case management, and parenting education, along with Zelie’s Home’s Alumnae Program, which keeps mothers connected to support after they leave
Pregnant with Possibilities Resource Center (PPRC)
- Serving women and their families across Cuyahoga County since 2015
- Through their M.O.M. (Making Opportunities Matter) Program, PPRC provides maternal health education, care coordination, and perinatal support to pregnant and postpartum individuals facing economic hardship and housing insecurity
- With JFF’s support, PPRC will expand emergency stabilization services of transportation assistance, emergency housing and utility support, and infant supplies, alongside its 13-session maternal education curriculum, aiming to increase prenatal and postpartum visit attendance
Partnership for Good Health (PGH)
- A relatively new organization, founded in 2022 by a registered nurse who saw firsthand the gaps in care facing immigrant and refugee families navigating the U.S. healthcare system
- PGH trains and employs bilingual Community Health Workers (CHWs) who share the language and cultural background of the populations they serve, building trust and improving access to care for underserved families across Cuyahoga County
- JFF’s grant will support PGH’s maternal care navigation program for Medicaid-eligible pregnant and postpartum women, which pairs CHWs with RN-guided support to improve access to care, connect mothers and infants to public benefits and essential resources, and expand maternal mental health screening and referrals
Together, these three grantees represent a continuum of care spanning from community-based education and stabilization services to long-term residential support for pregnant and parenting women across the city. JFF looks forward to partnering with each organization over the coming year, expanding its global mission of improving maternal health right here in Cleveland.
